California hummingbird sage (Salvia spathacea) is native to California and can grow taller than 59 inches (150cm). As the name suggests this variety of salvia is excellent at attracting hummingbirds. The California hummingbird sage grows tall in large mounds that thrive in full sun and partial sun, requiring moist soil, though this plant can survive in slightly drier conditions.
