20 Best Continued… Hummingbird Red Salvias (M to R)

Salvia Bordeaux or Salvia macellaria, is a perennial shrub that can grow 36 inches tall and 24 inches wide (91 cm by 60 cm). As a perennial shrub, Salvia Bordeaux provides hummingbirds nectar and a safe space for nesting during the hummingbird’s hibernation known as torpor. During torpor the hummingbird’s feet will lock around the branch it’s sitting on, and the hummingbird will hang upside down until it exits torpor.
